Primary job responsibilities:
We are pleased to announce that we are seeking a talented mechanical engineer to develop and
prepare mechanical designs from concept to completion. Responsible for working to customer
specifications, identifying changes to standard machinery to meet these specifications and producing
cost effective designs to meet these requirements within budget and schedule. This involves working
closely with the Sales Department and direct customer contact, application of mechanical
engineering knowledge of machinery principles and materials, manufacturing methods and
processes to insure designs are functional, practical, economical and satisfy customer operating
requirements.
Design of machined and fabricated parts including working with manufacturing to establish best
practices manufacturing methods. Designer will be responsible for producing SolidWorks models,
drawings and assemblies of shafts, bearings, drive components, mounting plates, structural frame
weldments, sheet metal, channels, covers, ducts etc. Prepares proper bills of material based on design. Obtains quotations for commercial components and identifies alternate sources when possible for cost effective designs. This includes electromechanical systems such as drive systems, pneumatics, conveyors, and product contact parts.
The candidate for this opportunity should be a motivated, conscientious, collaborative engineer
interested in a solid career with a dynamic group of creative professionals.
Technicial Skills:
· Minimum 4 years of proven machine design preferablely in the packaging machinery industry.
· Proficient user of an advanced 3D mechanical CAD package. SolidWorks is a Must.
· Comprehensive knowledge of machine design; drive systems, fabricated parts (understanding of machine shop & welding practices), and pneumatics.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Good communication skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Background would include design knowledge in applications of:
- Machined and Fabricated Parts (including manufacturing methods)
- Shafts, bearings and housings,
- Drive components sizing & design including servos
- Product specific tooling including heating & cooling
- Structural Frame Weldments
- Matched metal trimming
- Systems Design and Integration including:
- Printers, labelers or other marking devices
- Automatic loading and unloading including robotics
- Full line integration and process validation for food and medical device packaging

Available Position

·        Mechanical Designer

·         Design and modify robotic end effectors and tools. 

·         Prepare sketches or complete detail and assembly drawings for complex products and equipment. 

·         Support existing products through an ongoing process of continuous improvements and engineering changes to enhance performance and manufacturability. 

·         Test prototypes and released products to verify design to customer specifications and document with reports.

·         Write manuals, specification sheets, manufacturing and assembly instructions and technical reports for new and existing products.

·         As a Project Leader you will coordinate all phases of development including creation, prototypes, testing and analysis.

·         As a team member of new product design teams, use appropriate engineering tools such as SolidWorks CAD to successfully complete projects.

·         Communication and project management skills to meet project goals.

·         Work with suppliers to assure the most cost effective, robust designs are implemented.

·         Provide support to customers including travel to customer’s facilities if required.

Job Requirements/Skills: Innovative mechanical design skills (design understanding of pneumatic devices, fasteners, seals, material selection, bearings, lock mechanisms, etc.). Have demonstrated SolidWorks solid modeling and detail/assembly drawing proficiency.  Have the ability to read drawings including orthographic projections and have a history of successful mechanical designs.  An associate’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, but relevant experience can substitute.
